Her practise involves sculpture and photography, and is focused on the relationships between the intangible and the material aspects of the everyday. She is at present exploring the creation of a private dwelling.
Cruse aims to elevate the importance and status of objects, gifts and memorabilia in the home, the presence of which are often so familiar as to be overlooked and ignored. Her photographs depict these objects composed into classical 'still life' arrangements to create images of beauty, narrative and fond humour.
Her sculpture uses everyday items as materials. She is currently assembling items and fragments of household objects to re-invent their existence and worth as abstract sculptural pieces. The interpretation of each piece is open for the viewer to decide.
Polly Cruse MA is a member of the Norwich 20 Group and a Trustee of St. Etheldreda Artist Studios (SEAS).
Her work is held in public and private collections and is exhibited nationally and internationally.
